Dr. Jean Clarke-Mitchell, PhD, MSW, LICSW
Dr. Jean Clarke-Mitchell is a highly respected clinician, educator, and consultant with over two decades of experience in social work and psychotherapy. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S.W. from the prestigious Smith College School for Social Work, and she holds a B.A. in Psychology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and a B.S. in Management from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. Dr. Clarke-Mitchell is the founder of Jean Clarke-Mitchell Psychotherapy and Consulting Services, where she provides psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and consultation services.
Throughout her career, Dr. Clarke-Mitchell has been dedicated to addressing intimate partner violence, trauma, and mental health challenges. She has served as a Clinical Director at the Elizabeth Freeman Center and held numerous academic appointments, including her current role as an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Lesley University. Dr. Clarke-Mitchell is an active contributor to the academic and clinical communities, having presented at national and international conferences and published significant research on trauma, resilience, and the effects of intimate partner violence on children and families.
Dr. Clarke-Mitchell is passionate about empowering women, particularly women of color, and has received numerous accolades for her work, including the MAWOCN Leadership and Legacy Award. She is a co-founder of the Massachusetts Women of Color Network and serves on various boards and committees, furthering her commitment to community service and leadership
